The nearest airport is Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), which is approximately 40 minutes away from Ann Arbor on I-94. Unless you plan on renting a car, the only options for transportation from the airport are either taking an airport taxi for around $50 one-way, or call one of the following shuttle services about a week in advance to book a ride.

BY CAR

Ann Arbor is located at the junction of I-94 and US 23. Travel time is approximately 4 hours to Chicago; 5 hours to Pittsburgh and Toronto; 6 hours to Madison.

If you drive to Ann Arbor, be aware that it can be difficult to find a parking spot on campus. There are several parking structures in town; the closest is the Maynard structure, approximately 3 blocks from the conference site. Alternatively, several park-and-ride lots are available.

BY TRAIN

Amtrak links Ann Arbor to Chicago. Currently there are three trains per day; the journey lasts about five hours and costs approximately $50 round-trip. The station in Ann Arbor is located at 325 Depot Street, approximately 12 blocks from the conference site.

BY BUS

Greyhound There is also a Greyhound station in Ann Arbor, located at 116 E Huron Street, approximately 9 blocks from the conference site. Note that there is unfortunately no bus service between Ann Arbor and the airport.

Within Ann Arbor

If staying in the Central Campus area, all conference activities, restaurants, and bars are within walking distance.

If staying outside the Central Campus area, there are local bus services available. The bus terminal is four blocks west of the conference center, and the fare to all destinations in Ann Arbor is $1 each way. Buses run from approximately 7 am until 10 pm, more or less depending on the route.

Taxicabs can sometimes be found outside the Michigan Union, approximately three blocks south of the conference site. Otherwise, call one of our local cab companies about half an hour in advance.

If you need a late-night cab, AATA provides the Night Ride, an shared-ride taxi service for $3/person. They recommend that you allow at least an hour to complete your trip from the time you call. Night Ride operates from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am Monday - Friday, and 7:00 pm to 7:30 am Saturday and Sunday. Simply call 734-528-5432.
